Father's Corner Week of Sept. 13

It’s that time of year. September 26 & 27 is the commitment weekend for the Annual Catholic Appeal. This supports things such as the education of our seminarians and future priests, the priest retirement, religious education and the like. I have already pledged $1,000 this year and hope you will prayerfully consider giving what you can. Remember your prayers are also needed as well so pray for us. That’s also important. -Fr Mike

Confessions

Saturdays at St. Mary's 2:30-3:30 pm

Fr. Mike is now available for Confessions every Saturday from 2:30-3:30 pm at St. Mary of the Rosary. If confessions are face-to-face, please wear a face covering. You can also schedule Confession by appointment. Contact Fr. Mike at 935-4106 or email mishida@dioceseofspokane.org.

Sacred Heart Saturday Mass Schedule

No Mass at Sacred Heart September 12

Mass is celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays of the month at at 6:00 pm. This schedule change is being made to minimize priest burnout as Fr. Mike and Fr. Kenny assume the responsibility for nine churches in Stevens and Ferry counties.

Mass is at 8:00 am at Holy Ghost every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday and at St. Joseph's (Jump Off Joe) at 8:00 am every 2nd and 4th Sunday. Remember to make your checks out to "St. Joseph's Church" for donation at St. Joseph's Masses.

We are debtors to God

One of the key premises is that we as finite creatures cannot repay our debt to God who is infinite
That’s why God himself had to assume our nature so he could pay the debt we owed.
This is why the church has always maintained Our Lord had both a divine and a human nature. He was also without sin and gave his life willingly so we could be free from the power of darkness.

Demands transformation (as exemplified in the Our Father

We honor God and his name
We acknowledge him as our King and pray for the fullness of the kingdom
We also surrender our will to his and ask his will be done not ours both on earth and in heaven
We acknowledge him as the source of all good things and our dependence on him
We acknowledge we are sinner and need his forgiveness and we forgive others as that is what God wants.
We ask him not to allow us to be tried beyond our strength and ask for his protection from evil. This acknowledges that yes, the forces of darkness exist and we need his protection

Deadly sin

Is deadly because it leads us to commit other sins
Pride, gluttony, avarice, anger, lust, sloth, envy
Humility, asceticism, charity, chastity, zeal, admiration

We want to be able to continue focusing on learning our faith but not overwhelm everyone’s new fall schedules as families are working to settle into a new routine. Our Sunday Bulletin

Attending Mass during the Pandemic

All Catholics in the diocese are still dispensed from attending Sunday Mass.
Those who are vulnerable, at risk, or otherwise concerned must remain at home
Anyone with even the slightest symptoms or feelings of sickness must remain at home.
Parishioners are required to wear face masks whenever they are indoors for Mass, except while receiving Holy Communion.
Social distancing (6 feet) must be maintained. (Members of a single household sit together.)
Congregational singing is prohibited.
Communicants are encouraged to receive the Eucharist on a flattened hand.
Parishioners are not to congregate before or after Mass.
